It is famous for its marble canyon, from which stone was once extracted, which served as the basis for many cultural and everyday objects in St. Petersburg and beyond. Tourists come here from all over the world, at any time of the year. Therefore, the infrastructure of the park is developing better every year. Even a trip to this unique place was turned into an interesting adventure. After all, you can get here not only by car or bus, but also by retro train.
The tourist retro train "Ruskeala Express" has become not just a way to get to the park, but also an attraction. A real steam locomotive runs on the Sortavala-Ruskeala-Sortavala route. It also has an original design of the Nikolaev times, in the style of the late 19th – early 20th century. At the same time, it has modern amenities such as wi-fi, USB connectors for charging. Many tourists in their reviews note that delicious pastries are sold in the restaurant car. You can also find dishes of national Karelian cuisine there. We haven't tried it, but we advise you to take a look.
The cost of a tourist express ticket is about 350-420 rubles. It departs at 10:40 from the Sortavala railway station daily. It takes one hour to get to the park, during which time you can purchase entrance tickets, as well as find out information about the park's services.
